Welcome!

My teaching philosophy is simple. I am not here to pass or fail your child; my job is to teach them. In addition, through strict classroom management and open communication we can make this a successful year for your child.

Following TEA guidelines, interactive activities, and cooperative learning I will prepare students for 21st century challenges.

Course Grades and Grading Policy:
Parents are encouraged to sign up and use the on-line grade book. This will allow you to see your child’s progress regularly.

Any assignment below 70 can be redone. You have at least five days to fix the mistakes, get a parent/guardian signature, and turn in for a better grade.

Homework will be issued regularly but never of Fridays.

Classroom Rules:
It is important that you and your child be informed of my standards for classroom behavior so everyone knows what is expected.  I have always found parents to be very supportive of good classroom behavior so their child has a good environment for maximum learning. 

Behavioral Expectations:

  • Students will demonstrate respect for each other and school and private property at all times.
  • Students will demonstrate responsibility for their own actions.
  • Students will demonstrate quality of self and work at all times.
  • Students will follow all school rules.

The following disciplinary consequences will be used for conduct warranting discipline:

  • Verbal Correction
  • Seating Change
  • Student Reflection Plan, a time to reflect
  • 2nd Student Reflection Plan and a phone call to parents
  • 3rd Student Reflection plan and a Parent-Teacher Conference with Administrative intervention

Incentives:

  • Excellent Behavior Notes
  • Positive Phone Call to Parents
  • Pencils, erasers, stickers, etc.

Severity Clause: A student exhibiting any form of severe behavior that endangers others, violates the law or seriously prevents the teacher from teaching or other students from learning will be referred to administration immediately.
